* Call ERC Advanced Grants 2021
The call aims to support innovative and high-risk projects, capable of opening new horizons in any field of research.
The call is designed for excellent and well-established researchers, independent and exceptional leader in their scientific research sector. Grants may be awarded up to € 2.5 million for a period of 5 years.

* EJP SOIL External Call 
The call “Towards climate-smart sustainable management of agricultural soils” aims at fostering holistic agricultural soil management actions which will assist in making a shift to diversity farming. MIPAAF is the national funding agency for Italian applicants. Max grant amount: 200.000 € for each project (project duration: three years).

* Science & SciLifeLab Prize for Young Scientists
An annual prize of up to USD 30,000 awarded to early-career scientists. An essay based on their PhD thesis is submitted to the editorial board of Science.

* Career Development Award - Armenise Harvard Foundation

The Award provides $200,000 per year, for 3-5 years, to young scientists, with at least 3 years of postdoc experience, who are currently working outside Italy and wish to move to Italy to conduct independent research in the biological sciences

* Humboldt Research Fellowship for postdoctoral and experienced researchers

to conduct research activities at various stages of career in collaboration with a host at a German research institution. Depending on the years of research experience, the fellowship can last from 6 to 36 months.

* Webinars on Horizon Europe
The European Commission is organising several open information sessions to inform all potential applicants to Horizon Europe calls on the main novelties of the Programme and on the modalities for preparing their proposals.

* Horizon Europe info-days - Online event 
The first edition of the Horizon Europe info-days will take place
online from 28 June to 9 July 2021.
The event will give the opportunity to prospective applicants, and other stakeholders of EU research and innovation, to receive information and ask questions about the novelties, main funding instruments and processes of Horizon Europe. The Horizon Europe info-days will address 9 themes, each featuring a programme of exclusive discussions and hands-on sessions, dedicated to a different cluster or part of the new programme.

* European Research and Innovation Days– Online Event
European Research and Innovation Days is the European Commission’s annual flagship Research and Innovation event.
The event will take place online on 23 and 24 June 2021. This year marks the start of Horizon Europe, the most ambitious EU research and innovation programme ever. Cooperation in research and innovation is essential in our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and will pave the way to a greener and more digital future.

* LIFE Programme Info days, on line event, June 22–25, 2021 
The new LIFE Programme 2021-27 is now ready to start! First calls for projects proposals on nature and biodiversity, circular economy and quality of life, climate change mitigation and adaptation, clean energy transition will be launched in late June. In the meantime, potential applicants can participate to LIFE Info days on 22- 25 June to find out more about the programme novelties.

* Tech Share Day 2021 - promotional videos 
Four University of Padua patents were given the opportunity to take part in Tech Share Day 2021 - an online event to match university technology with industrial partners. For the occasion, a video presentation of each patent was created in collaboration with Unismart Foundation: watch these innovators pitch the advantages of their technology in the dedicated Canale MediaSpace Channel.

* Framework Agreements with companies
Three new Framework and Collaboration Agreements have been signed recently by the University and ENI SpA, Fondazione Enea Tech and Herbae srl. Details on how to interact with these companies to start new projects will be available in the next few weeks.
The Agreements can be viewed in the intranet Moodle of the Research Valorization Office.

* Research and Universities: over 15 billion provided for by the Italian PNRR
Within the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), Italy allocates 15 billion euros to investments for universities, AFAM institutions, research, innovation and technology transfer.

* Scientific research of Excellence 2021: released the results of the first selection phase
The Cariparo Foundation has invested 4 million euros to support original and innovative research projects, which will make a significant impact on the reference scientific community. After the publication of the results of the First selection phase on May 28, 2021, the Presentation phase of the Definitive Project has opened for those who have successfully passed the evaluation of the Executive Summary.
The presentation of the final project is scheduled from 29/05/2021 to 03/09/2021

* FISR 2020 COVID: 10 project ideas of our University are admitted for funding
With the selection notice D.D. 562/2020 of 5 May 2020, the Ministry of University and Research has allocated 21 million euros to the Special Integrative Fund for Research for the presentation of research project ideas of particular strategic importance, aimed at facing the different needs and issues derived from the spread of the SARS-Cov-2 virus and Covid-19 infection.
After the MUR publication of the Directorial Decree with the approval ranking and the admission to funding for research projects presented to the FISR 2020 - COVID - FIRST PHASE Notice, 10 project ideas by the University of Padua are funded. (Directorial Decree n. 1049 of April 30, 2021)

* Horizon Europe – Pathfinder Open call closure 
The first Pathfinder Open call (FET in Horizon 2020), within the scope of the third pillar of Horizon Europe, i.e. Innovative Europe, has come to its closure on 25th May.
The Pathfinder Open calls aim at funding collaborative research in all fields of knowledge, driven by the development of ground-breaking, high-risk/high-gain technologies.
The University of Padua submitted 19 proposals, 6 of which coordinated by researchers from our University and belonging to the Departments of Physics and Astronomy, Women's and Children’s Health, Geosciences, Biology, Management and Engineering, Chemical Sciences.

The documentation regarding the research grants has been updated. The documents written in Italian and English are dedicated to Structures and research fellows and can be read on the moodle page at the following link Moodle.

* To patent or not to patent?
What is a Patent? Why Patent? The Research Valorization Office has created a brief document to help researchers get to know intellectual property rights. It is available in the Moodle intranet, together with other useful  resources to understand the rules and timelines of patenting and how they intertwine with university research.
