* Call Talent@UniPD
The call for the ERC Starting Grant_2022 will open on September 23rd, 2021. The call falls within Horizon Europe, the European Commission Programme for research and innovation. Promising candidates, wishing to apply with the University of Padua as their Host Institution, are welcome to participate in the Talent@UniPD, which is a scouting initiative promoted by the International Research Office. It aims at identifying and supporting outstanding Principal Investigators (in and outside the University of Padua), who will be assisted at each stage of their ERC proposal preparation and submission.

* The cogito Foundation: Research grants/postdoc fellowships
The cogito foundation funds research projects of a cross-disciplinary nature, with the aim of studying and bridging the gap between the Sciences and the Humanities. * LIFE - Calls for proposals 2021
On 13 July the first LIFE Call for Proposals opened under the new LIFE programme 2021-2027, which comprises four sub-programmes: nature & biodiversity, circular economy and quality of life, climate change mitigation and adaptation and the clean energy transition. At the same link applicants can find recorded info sessions including presentation slides on all the open calls providing further insight into project ideas sought.and a lot of additional material on the new LIFE programme and its specific features such as evaluation criteria, type of projects and how to apply successfully.

* Partner search 
A Spanish Hospital (coordinator) is looking for partners to apply for the call Emerging Technologies in Cell and Gene therapy (HORIZON-EIC-2021-PATHFINDER CHALLENGES-01-03).
The coordinator has a strong expertise in mesenchymal stem cells. Research partners (public or private) with expertise in expansion of adherent cells in a bioreactor and isolation and functional characterization of microvesicles are welcome.

* Azrieli International Postdoctoral Fellowships
Azrieli foundation offers postdoctoral fellowships in seven Universities/Research Institutes in Israel to European and Canadian researchers who obtained their PhD from 1 November 2018 on. 24 Azrieli International Postdoctoral Fellowships are awarded: up to 18 Fellowships in STEM fields, up to three in humanities and up to three in social sciences.

* Volkswagen Stiftung: Open Up – New Research Spaces for the Humanities and Cultural Studies
The funding initiative addresses teams of two or three researchers. The main applicant must be affiliated to a German institution, the others may be international. The funding period is 1.5 years. The total grant is limited to 250,000 euros for projects with two partners and 350,000 euros for projects with three partners.

* Volkswagen Stiftung: Global Issues – Preventing Pandemics: the Role of Human-Environmental Interactions
 The funding initiative addresses inter- and transdisciplinary research teams of three to five researchers, from at least 3 different countries (at least one applicant from a German university/research institution and at least two from institutions in two different non-European Low and Middle Income Countries). The funding period is 4 years for a total grant up to 1,5 Mill euros.

* Interreg Central Europe- towards the new call 2021
Interreg programme Central Europe will launch its first call for 2021-2027 period by the end of October 2021. The call will cover all 4 priorities and all the specific objectives and will have an overall budget of 72 million Euros.

* NIH-NCI FOA RFA-CA-21-056,  Implementation Science for Cancer Control in People Living with HIV in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (U01 Clinical Trial Optional)
NIH-NCI has published an international funding opportunity announcement (FOA) to support implementation science for cancer control in people living with HIV (PLWH) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to accelerate the integration of evidence-based cancer control interventions for PLWH by leveraging existing HIV treatment and prevention infrastructure. Responsive applications should include multi-disciplinary teams of researchers with expertise in HIV, cancer, and implementation science to address the cancer control needs of PLWH populations specific to the proposed LMIC context. The maximum project period is 5 years, NIH-NCI intends to commit 5 million US dollars in FY 2022 to support up to 6 awards.

* LIFE Call for proposals 2021 - Q&A sessions
On 8th and 9th September, from 9:00 to 13:00, the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) organises an online Question & Answer session for applicants on the recently published LIFE 2021 Call for proposals. Participants will be able to ask their questions directly to the LIFE team at CINEA about the characteristics of the programme and subprogrammes.

* Research: the first level consultation planned by the Agreement with HT has been launched
The first level consultation of the national scientific community has begun as expected by the Convention signed on 30 December 2020 by the MUR, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Human Tecnopole Foundation.
The agreement provides for the creation of National Platforms at the Human Technopole Foundation, where the national scientific community will be able to carry out high-quality research in their respective fields without without the constraint of institutional membership.
The identification of these platforms takes place following a consultation divided into two phases: the first oriented at selected stakeholders representing the research system in the life sciences sector, the second aimed at the entire scientific community.
At the end of the two phases, the Technical Committee will prepare a final report with the result of the consultations, identifying the platforms that the national scientific community mostly asks to use.

* University: Allocation of the Fund for the promotion and development of the policies of the National Research Plan (PNR) for the years 2021 and 2022
The decree (DM n. 737 of 25/06/2021) within which the MUR identifies the criteria for the allocation and the use of the PNR Fund’s resources regarding the financial years 2021 and 2022 in favor of Universities, Authority and Public Research Institutions has been published.
The Fund's endowment of €200,000,000 per year is allocated in proportion to the last annual allocation of the resources of the Fund for Ordinary Financing (FFO) and the resources of the Ordinary Fund for Agencies and Research Institutions (FOE).
Universities receive 81.64% of the Fund's endowment, equal to € 163,277,965.59 per year.
In particular, the University of Padua is assigned an amount of € 8,066,872.54 for each of the 2021 and 2022 years.

* New portal for projects funded by the European Structural funds and investments
A new portal of the projects funded by the European Structural funds and investments (ERDF, CTE, ESF, EAFRD, EMFF) that the University of Padua has participated in as leader or partner is now online. The portal meets the requirement to advertise the funded projects and is a window to companies, public entities and associations to facilitate contacts and future collaborations.
A chart for each project is available with all the key information and funding details.

* ROZES Srl is a new University spin-off
The innovative start up ROZES srl, now a university spin off participated by prof. Antonio Parbonetti, prof. Michele Fabrizi and dott. Francesco Ambrosini of the Department of Economics, commercializes a machine learning algorithm that analyses companies with the aim of preventing frauds, money laundering and fraudulent bankruptcy.

* Start Cup Veneto 2021

The finalists of the 2021 edition of Start Cup Veneto completed the intensive Acceleration program in June. The teams are now working on their business plan and video pitch, the essential features for any business idea. In September the teams will continue one to one meetings with the trainers. The Video Pitch Day will take place on September 22th as a general rehearsal for the Final that will take place on October 7th in Padova.
